Trust, support and knowing you are there totally for each other needs to be the basis for a good relationship I think, whether that relationship is family, friendship or a love/married one.

AS you say Pyramid weigh up the pros and cons, I also am someone who believes in the plus and minus plan of relationships, if one outnumbers the other on the important issues then an answer may be clearer.
If the plus figure is greater there is much to build on then, if the minus figure is greater then its likely to get worse because some vital elements needed to make a relationship work will have gone.

I wish the OP the very best if they are having a bad time as to a relationship at present.I would never advise anyone on anything as all situations have different aspects to them but often once the rot does set in then it's likely to get far worse and become even more lonely and painful in such a relationship.
