Some MP's were against the smoking ban, one quite famously in 07. It's a shame there's no voice anymore

‘Smokers then get their butt, which is full of saliva, and chuck it on the floor.'

Not true of everyone. Some people dispose of their cigarette butts in a proper manner in designated ash trays or bins.

Saliva comes from people spitting, chewing gum, any number of sources.

We should ban all vehicles too because of the pollution. And why stop there?

Actually, if you smoke in your car is that deemed a public place? Say you have the window open?

If smoking is banned in "in any open place or public street" then where will anybody smoke? In your own home only? Will you not be able to open your windows or doors? What about people who rent and cannot smoke in their own homes and do not have a garden? Banning in public parks and beaches would not bother me personally as a smoker. I have to adapt accordingly. I would be interested to know what is deemed as "any open place".

Very easy for a non-smoker to say.

We are , it takes time.

The future is Battery cars
which last even longer without charge.

Smokers are going to go from the Western World
as this bunch of stinking smokers die off
it gets better for all.

Oh yeah banning smoking is the answer, that'll work, don't know why they didn't put that on the packet all these years instead of those silly health warnings

I can, but I dont want to. I enjoy it, it relaxes me.

Also I have an addictive personality, so if I stopped smoking properly, I would likely end up hooked to something else.

And the country would be ****ed if everyone stopped smoking anyway. As livia pointed out in the other thread, smokers fund 10% of the NHS. If they keep up with **** like this, expect your taxes to rise massively.

You can buy condoms in ASDA but I don't think they want you to use them in there or just outside the doorway.

I agree 100% with InOne and Jedward fever, we are going backwards, if smoking was illegal then fine, there would be reasons for these nanny like petty and discriminatory bans in all public areas,
Smoking is not illegal and also smoking is never likely to die out completely. I'd rather have a smoker who stubs their dump on the ground than the chewing gum brigade who spit it out when finished and just leave that too for people to stand on.

I have never ever smoked and never will but smoking is legal, the Govt makes a fortune from smokers, even those on benefits who smoke return much of their benefit to the Govts coffers in tobacco duty.
Smokers are doing nothing illegal so the prejudiced need to accept that fact and live and let live.
