I was actually really annoyed by the editing and use of them for a good 5 minutes on Thursday's show.. was so pathetic.. it wasn't even a proper argument either?

It's the summer. They assume (rightly) most American's are not in front of the TV. The kid's are at summer camp(so not watching), or at home which means parents are having to spend time with their kids(so also not watching tv). They're on vacations. CBS is trying to appeal to casual viewers.

BBUSA is not the phenomenon that BBUK ever was. You have to remember that the whole concept of "sticking people in a house of camera's for 3 months" was not new to Americans when it came out on Big Brother, cause American's had already been watching The Real World since 1991. So Big Brother wasn't anything new for us. The young demographic in the UK that watched BBUK, in America, teens watch The Real World/The Challenge or Jersey Shore, BBUSA is not and never was "cool" like those shows for young adults. CBS is known in the US as the old-people's network. CBS can't compete with MTV or BET and they don't try to. CBS could never be cool.

It's filler. It's at least something new while the other networks are showing re-runs.

US TV during summer is DEATH.

Uhh... BET really isn't popular at all. And the whole RW/RR franchise gets under 2 million viewers (partly since MTV's on cable and CBS is a basic channel), that franchise has been long dead. MTV's trying to milk out Jersey Shore and Teen Mom now cause that's where they're drawing viewers in.

You're missing the point. MTV and BET are still cool, CBS is not and never was and never will be cool.

Obviously CBS get's more views because it's a major network, and you don't need to pay for cable to see it. That doesn't mean it's more popular or relevant though.

MTV is "cool" for preteens who try to be cool and that's about it. At the end of the day, people brush it off as a joke, especially because "music television" doesn't focus on music at all. And BET... I'm not even going to get into BET, but that channel is completely irrelevant.

And that second part makes no sense. MTV/BET get less viewers, yet they're more popular? That's contradictory.
