The problem is that whatever they do it will likely have an effect on us too.

I agree, Obama clearly is concerned as to his electoral position, a stalemate is a bad position to be in but I think the Republicans believe they can take him down further on this one.
Rather risky though to be playing these political games with your Nations finances.

As to his cuts plans such as they are, he should maybe look harder to over here, the growth in the UK has gone from 1.1% for the quarter of April to June 2010 right down to o.2% for the same quarter in 2011,with the previous 2 quarters showing a +0.5% and also -0.5% (so no growth at all really), it would seem the savage and rapid cuts have considerably pulled back our recovery from the 1.1 figure.

I think, back to the drawing board Obama and I sort of wish our Govt would look at things again too becasue the way we are heading, this govt hasn'e an earthly as to clearing our deficit now in only the next 3 years 9 months before the next election.

Stimulation not stifling is what's needed to be done,Obama needs to stop dragging this on and do something.

The trouble is that party politics is getting in the way of them actually sorting this mess out, they're all looking to score political points from it instead of actually trying to sort out the situation. The Republicans are being too stubborn, they're refusing any increase in taxes despite them being at their lowest for years and only want to reduce the deficit through spending cuts, but those cuts would have to be huge to actually sort the problem out

Both parties are just focusing on the fact that an election is approaching, I just hope the US doesn't end up having to default on their debt unnecessarily

Obama inherited a bloody mess from the previous incumbant - a bit like this country - and people are expecting him to have turned the country completely around in a couple of years after a decade of George Dubya. It was always unrealistic to expect he would have managed what people expected of him.

We need to impose huge tax on imports from the east. the middle kindgdom has been undervalueing their kurensee and hurting amerkan business. We should impose huge tariffs on all imports from the middle kingdom.
