1. 3 + (7-2) = 3 + 5 = 8
2. 17 - (14 X 3) = 17 - 42 = - 25 3. 11 + (2 X 7) = 11 + 14 = 25 4. 100 - (11 x 8) X 4 = 100 - 88 = 12; 12 X 4 = 48 5. 27 X 3 - 6 = 54 - 6 = 75 Solve the following equations: 1. 4x - 7 = 27 Add seven to both sides, and 4x = 34. Divide by four to get x on its own, and x = 8.5 (you can do this using an algorithm). 2. 3x - 27 = 45 Add 27 to both sides and 3x = 72. Divide by 3 to get x on its own, and x = 24 (feel free to check this by multiplying 24 by 3 ). ![]() That's secondary school maths that most people can't remember how to do.[/QUOTE] Last edited by Redway; 28-07-2011 at 10:57 PM. |
