The reason why I'm so slim is because, yes, I eat quite healthily, but I burn off my calories from more unhealthy foods. In other words, I can eat as many chips as I want and not be fused, because I'll be at the gym for hours, getting fit and burning off all those calories the next day.

So it's the ideal weight for me to be for my height. It also gives me a body mass index of 20.5 which is well within the 18.5 to 24.5 range of body mass that is ideal for my age, height and weight.

I'm 5'8 and weigh just under 9.5 stone. I think my BMI is around 21/22.

Not that BMI is accurate, it's actually pretty ****e.

Lose. 5'8" and hovering around 11 stone. Until I first got pregnant at 29, I never weighed more than 9 stone. When I was 21, I weighed just over 7. Was like a pull through for a rifle, a long drink of sour milk or a zip with it's tongue sticking out; all according to my father, all my life. Then I got pregnant, stopped smoking and discovered food. Some years and several pregnancies later, I can't effin shift the effin thing. So to all those youngsters feeling smug about their skinniness, enjoy it! I've been doing a lot of running lately, which is slowly starting to work - but I'm also flirting with smoking a bit again; which is so monumentally stupid, but it does suppress appetite. Bloody, frigging, effin' nature, age, hormones...........................

Put on weight.

Around three years ago, I was next to anorexic I'm sure, at the age of 15, I was just below 7 stone. I looked really ill, I then went on an extensive weight gain plan. I am now 18 and at 9 stone, normal weight for someone short like me (5'6), but I would like to put more weight on. I think 10 stone at my age would be ideal.

Makes me wonder if pregnancy has a long term effect with some people as far as metabolism etc is concerned - this is a story I've heard and seen with friends over the years - no weight issues till after baby arrives then despite all the extra exercise looking after/running around after baby etc: they can't shift the weight and it's not through eating stodge.

I'm pretty much the opposite - tend to be able to eat and drink what I like - certainly I'll come back from holiday half a stone heavier but that's lost very quickly once I'm back in my usual routine which tends to be at breakneck speed a lot of the time. If I'd had kids - I do wonder if I'd be able to lose as quickly - wonder if that would have changed how my body reacts to food.

As for the fags Pats.... come on. You quit for all those years - you've got a proven track record. (hark at me....sorry!!)

I definitely think that's the case; I've been pregnant A LOT in recent years and it gets SO much harder to stay in shape afterwards. Oh, and if you gave up the fags, Mids, you'd be singing a different tune; they REALLY speed up your metabolism. Might opt for a coffee addiction instead................

Nah... quite happy with my vice! A girl needs some dontcha know! Plus, the amount I eat currently (loads! - believe me, I'd end up like the side of a house!).

I have friends, older than me, who don't have children and they have amazing figures ladies in their twenties would be proud of, so I definately think that pregnancy does change things in terms of how easily you put on and retain weight afterwards, but I'm not sure why that is. For me though, I think I used that as an escuse for far too long. I put on huge amounts of weight in both my pregnancies because I stopped smoking through both and loved the excuse of being pregnant to eat whatever I wanted in whatever quantities I wanted. After my last pregnancy, it was so easy to take the 'what do you expect, I've got two kids' attitude because I don't think I really wanted to change my lifestyle. In the end (when my youngest was abou 13) I realised I had to stop using that excuse (actually it was after seeing a particularly unflattering photo of myself) and do something about it. I'm around 8st 3lb to 8st 6lb these days, it fluctuates a few pounds at certain times so I'm probably a bit underweight, but I don't want to put on any more in case I can't then stop it. And I know this is really shallow, but I'd rather be underweight than overweight. I do smoke as well, which does keep the weight down because I'd be more likely to have a fag break than a kitkat

Ach, your doing it all wrong Rhino.

It's 'have a cuppa, with a kit kat'....and then go have a fag to round it off!!

It works!! Honest!
