They already know what poor is. You do know benefits cover the bare essentials of what you need to survive? On JSA you get about £50 a week(or did when I was on it about 4 years ago, probably a little bit more now).

And again, taking what little they have in the first place away from them, will just make crime much much worse. They will HAVE to turn to stealing etc. just to eat

The kids in africa wash themselves. Does this mean they arent poor? Some even have clothes.

I do get what you are saying, but the way it is coming across is bloody ridiculous and a bit hysterical tbh

And yeah, some people on the dole have loads of computer stuff etc. But many many dont. Its unfair to judge everyone based on a few you have seen.

Personally I would love to know how some of the people out of work can afford things that I cant afford now. When I was on jobseekers I really did struggle to get just the basics :/

I was very disappointed with the talent on show re: the looters. The girls involved were all dogs and the outfits were very fattening.

I see where you are coming from jf and you know I near always agree with you, however,If you take thier benefits away and make them homeless is that going to stop them commitiing crimes or is it likely to make them even more likely to commit crime, this time though, as Vicky says, not just of just pure greed but partly to survive.

Time I think is needed to make sure this gets done fairly and right, if the govt does as it says it will, continue to force cuts in the Police force, then criminals will have more easier access to crime.

Maybe its time to go right back to the drawing board and find out how best to end these kind of riots and crime not jump straight into polices that will likely inflame the situation and so mean much more crime.

The Tory government spent 18 years creating high unemployment..Which resulted in high rates of robbery and anti social beahvour and dirty hospitals.....

The blame game is foolish.......All political parties over decades are responsible for the social decay......

The benefits argument is a tricky one as one can see both sides of the debate.

However my logic is if they thieve while on benefits then taking benefits away won't change anything as they are theiving anyhow......

I do wish as part of punishment they were made to do community work to pay off the cost of their actions as well as the punishment served. We are still madly too soft on criminal activities.

Binge drinking and drug taking yobs should be made to pay full medical costs if they are arrested for damage and harm to others. They should also be made to pay full cost of police attendance/court appearances & any ambualnce crews that have to wast time with such out of their mind idiots....

This is not the solution at all. It will make things 100x worse. Why the **** cant someone who actually has brains be in power?
That is exactly right Vicky,as a Student I was almost stalked as were all other Students by Lib Dem candidates promising that we could trust them and that they would 'never in any circumstances' all their words, support cuts being made in the first year of Parliament or support the raising of tuition fees.

It was my first ever vote in an election and for my sins I trusted them,I never will again.
Yes though, the only way the Conservatives can govern and can get policies passed in Parliament is with the Lib Dems 57 votes, the only other allies to the Conservatives are the D.U.P. in Northern Ireland but they only have 8 MPs,so they cannot help the Conservatives.

Every party, except the Conservatives, that stood in the election was against cuts in the first year while the recovery was weak and also any rise in tuition fees either.
Only the Lib Dems supported opposite policies once they got the votes trusted to them and the seats they won from those votes.

I just hope the Lib Dems force the Govt to throw out knee jerk policies that are very badly presented, badly thought out and plain wrong.
