I don't think it is a bad thing but I think they should have kept it quiet and gone into the toilet with their duvets. There is no need to make a big song and dance about it, they just wanted to make sure they were getting some air time.

And if Alex thought it was the most disgusting thing she had ever seen why did she feel the need to be hanging around the bedroom if she felt that way.
