It's difficult to know what Jem is saying because we don't know how much she has seen of the show before she entered and if she's basing her thoughts on them as she sees them now or how she perceived them before she entered.

or a better explanation is she fancies jay and louise is/was with him, and girls are so jealous of other girls.
