The new series is daycent. RTE gave back creative control to the bais after almost ruining them in the first TV series with their ****tyarse dublin 4 posh boy creative tips.

Though I would never take it myself, I'm all for the legalisation of cannabis. If the government were to control it and it's strength rather than let some dealer in a back alley would make give me solace in the fact that I've seen what the stronger stuff can do - my brother smoked it for a few years and it pretty much made him stop caring about work and stuff, all he cared about was getting high.

If the government controlled it and had it at a standardised strength it'd be much better imo. Also all the money that goes into the underground drugs industry would probably end up funding a bunch of other crimes too so it'd be killing two birds with one stone I guess.

If they did make it legal it would most likely be ridiculously expensive. So people would either grow their own or go to dealers anyway

No it wouldn't. Even with tax it's a filth cheap crop to produce. How many people do you know who buy bootleg booze off the back of trucks because it's cheaper? Largely it just doesn't happen. People will pay for a clean, consistent source of weed. After all they're willing to pay for contaminated, inconsistent weed with an added mark up price by greedy, unscrupulous dealers.

It wouldn't be government produced bud sold in Tesco anyway. I can see it being decriminalised as opposed to legalised. It's a question of when not if. It will more than likely work like it does in Amsterdam, California etc with shops and dispensaries being allowed to sell a self grown supply.

Regular smokers with the time and space would probably opt to grow it of course.

Yeah but like I said, if you grow it or have mates who grow you're still most likely go to them. And I just think they would tax it insanely like they do cigs and booze. But everyone is different I guess, can't speak to the masses. I guess the people who would most benefit is people who smoke because they have Cancer, then they wouldn't have the worry.

I took taxing it insanely into account when I said "even with tax it's a filth cheap crop to produce". Cannabis in a tolerated marketplace would be either cheaper or roughly the same price as it would be in it's current position of trade. You can get better quality, cheaper dope in countries where it's sale is permitted than what you can get in the U.K.

And even if people grow it loads and loads you make it sound as if it's difficult to make money off Cannabis. The government already make dough off it from taxed, legal seeds. You could introduce a card/license system you have to pay for in order to grow it.

You would still see millions and millions anyway being made from those who would rather just purchase it from vendors. And that's not even going into the money the government would save not playing this endless, fruitless game of chase with the drug and it's use. The negating the need for human trafficking, theft of electricity, destruction of homes, hijacking of neighbourhoods by violent gangs etc that all come along with criminal grow ops.
