Yep. For such tiny little things: they are one of the most organised, industrious, strong and totally regimented living things alive. Some of the documentaries on them are fab.

I didn't realise till only recently that there are little lowly worker ants who are never allowed to leave the nest - they exist only to tend to the 'gardens' I think - and never see the light of day till they die.

Poor wee things.
