Patrick bots would struggle to prove what day it was, most people who watch movies do know who Michael Madsen is.

More people in the Uk know who Michael is compared to how well known any of the UK contestants would be familiar to those living in America.

Proven by the fact that most (if not all) of the UK housemates in the house knew who he was: yet neither he or the Twins knew much about any of the UK contestants.

I should think the Americans have a higher standard of who they would consider a celebrity. Shagging your brother-in-law doesn't confer celebrity status, neither does being an x-factor contestant kicked out for taking drugs. Natasha and Frankie would have been ideal fodder for the normal BB, but CBB? Hell no.

All very true - it still shows that the Americans are more well known to those in the UK, than the Brits in the house are known to those in America (most likely indeed for the very reasons you have given: that being a celebrity over there mean you have done something valid and of worthwhile conribution to be regarded as a celeb).

Even as an American i have to say i didn't know the name Michael Madsen, but i definitely recognized him right away when i saw him. He's one of those actors that's been in a lot of hit movies, but he wasn't the lead character in any of them, his name is never in big print on the movie posters.

You would have to work a little harder than you are able to make me have any kind of emotion about you. Although I do admit your provocative, argumentative views I do find really tiresome. Michael is one of the best known and best supported housemates on here and masses of people knew him from the start. But hey, if you don't know him.... then everyone else must be wrong.

I know who he is by looking at his face but the name did not ring a bell to me. When he was rumoured to go in I had to google him, but when I saw him I knew instantly who he was and what some of the films he's been in were.

But I agree with the OP, I don't know all of his films and I wouldn't class him as the most famous american actor of our time.

If he was the most famous actor of our time, would he be in Big Brother?

I'm sure we're all grateful to the OP for pointing out that Michael Madsen is not Robert De Niro.

Good morning Marc.

Morning Livia

Well obviously he isn't the most famous actor, but the way the twins went on they probably were trying to convey that, they don't seem very realistic and tend to exaggerate from time to time. So I guess the point is valid, but given that the twins actually didn't say he was the most famous actor, and instead portrayed it, there appears to be leeway to everybodies arguements.

I actually have heard of her I think I was was flicking through TV channels when I came across the reality show. Didn't they get divorced? Or was there another couple with just as many babies did a programe also? I remember them having free surgery to get rid of the excess skin caused by the multiple birth.

Yes that's her...that's the woman they had on Dancing with the Stars, the most popular "celebrity" reality show in the US, so now you know the quality of "stars" we get on our "celebrity" programs lol.

Tarrantino wanted Michael for the role of Vincent in Pulp Fiction but he had to turn it down due to other commitments and the part went to Travolta

In addition to that, he had planned a film with the two Vega brothers / cousins (?) ie, Travolta and Madsen...

I wasn't talking about myself. I knew him myself. When he came in I said to myself, oh that's Michael Madsen. However I don't think most people in the UK prior to CBB would have been able to identify him. I know a lot about films so I wasn't talking about myself. I was talking about most people in the UK. On BBOTS I think only 11 percent of people could identify him. I don't know how accurate that is but it's certainly no higher than 20 percent if we're talking about putting a name to a face. Like when my mum was visiting and we watched it together she said think she recognised his face but I had to tell her his name and what he was in.

I'm sure a lot more knew him than knew the twins. Or Romeo for that matter. But hey, whatever...
