With one mixed race child at the school where I work, the parents offered to come in and take an assembly with the children so they could ask questions if they wanted to. It was a good approach and stopped anything like this happening.

As the only legally discriminated against minority in the US, i must say, i must prefer people to ask questions than to just TELL me what they think.

I don't mind answering any questions about my minority status, at least it gives me a chance to educate people.

There is no such thing as an offensive question.

I'm only offended by people that think they have the right to educate ME on my own minority status. That's offensive.

Ask whatever ignorant question you want about homosexuality, and i'll happily answer. but if you think you can TELL me about being gay, then i'm offended and we'll have a problem.

There are no stupid questions though, i have no problem with questions. When someone asks a question it's good, because clearly the person wants to know, and it opens up a line of dialogue.
