I'm not comparing him to a British standard of a thug or whatever. I'm in America and I know what American thugs sound like. His accent is that of a middle-class American kid, not a street kid.
Adam reminds me of a black American middle class guy who wants to act tough even though he's from a middle-class suburb - they try to act the part, even go as far as getting themselves thrown in jail/prison and waste their lives away. Go to any inner city - NY, LA, Chicago, Atlanta, whatever and see if they sound like Adam.
Darnell - the albino from a few seasons ago - has more of the American street accent.
Of course, middle class kids can be criminals just like everyone else, but his style of dress makes no sense. He seems more like a poser than a gangster.
