If the outsiders had of managed to work with some of the floaters and got some of the insiders out it would have resulted it more outsider families voting and we'd have outsiders in the white room right now.
IMO nothing fishy about this task. Insiders have a majority. It makes sense that the insiders would end up the ones not up and would have the chance at the room.

I think they want Conor or Luke S to win. I don't think they were supposed to go in the white room, until they found a way to make it happen.
