The estate of television presenter Jimmy Savile has been frozen in response to the sex abuse claims made against him, NatWest bank says.

The bank, which is acting as the late DJ's executor, said: "Given the claims raised, distribution of the estate has been put on hold."

Savile's estate is thought to be worth about £4 million.

Lawyers representing those who claim they were attacked by Savile are planning to sue the estate for damages.

Now that the Banks acting as executor for his estate have frozen his assets , we will start to see the backlash. Now that there is a good chance all the relatives and charities who are currently awaiting their share of his £4M will start to use the law to protect his name.

Innocent until proven guilty will be the unspoken mantra regardless of the number of allegations. You can't prove any of it in law and be prepared for a long legal battle which I fear the victims of Savile's abuse will ultimately lose.

Savile's will was written in 2006. The Financial Times reported that it bequeathed his savings and other assets to 26 separate beneficiaries, and that £20,000 in cash was to be shared between 20 of his friends, family and neighbours.

The document reportedly said that a further £600,000 was to be put into a trust fund, with the interest shared between eight people, and that the remaining £3.7m or so would be held by NatWest on behalf of The Jimmy Savile Charitable Trust.

Savile's intended individual beneficiaries include the trustees of both his charities and existing and former employees of Leeds General Infirmary and Broadmoor Hospital.

It is not the first time that the Savile estate has been frozen. In July, it was put on hold after a woman claimed to be his illegitimate daughter.

No amount of victim testimony or witness statements will ever convince some that these people are anything else but moneygrabbers will it?
I just hope that they are never personally affected by something like this, my guess is there would be a distinct change of heart.

ITV will broadcast further revelations about Jimmy Savile in a follow-up to its explosive Exposure documentary broadcast last month.

The second Savile investigation will be fronted by journalist and former detective Mark Williams-Thomas, who was also responsible for the first programme.

Expected to air in late November, the second ITV investigation may coincide with the conclusion of the BBC inquiry into the affair being led by former head of Sky News Nick Pollard. He is due to start formal interviews next week.

An ITV spokesman said it was too early to confirm when the programme would be broadcast, or what material it would contain.

The first Exposure programme was watched by nearly 2 million viewers.

I suspect that the audience will be somewhat larger for the next Exposure ....

A wall commemorating high-profile citizens in Leeds Civic Hall has had the inscription of Savile's name removed.

Having said three weeks ago they would not change the name of Savile's Hall conference centre in Leeds, owner Royal Armouries International announced a change of mind this week at a cost of £50,000.

"Sir Jimmy's name and reputation are irrevocably tainted and we have to remove every trace," the managing director said.

The Royal Marines training centre at Lympstone will have its Savile Room renamed. A photo and nameplate have already gone. A newspaper talked of them having "destroyed all remnants of the TV star".

The BBC has removed from its Desert Island Discs database a 1985 episode in which Savile says he got into running dance halls in order to get girls.

Freddie Starr has been arrested in the police investigation into Savile.

He has denied claims he groped a 14-year-old girl in a room with Savile.

Mr Starr, from Warwickshire, was arrested by Operation Yewtree officers on suspicion of sexual offences and has been taken into police custody locally.

Police said he fell under the strand of the investigation termed "Savile and others".

I agree but the general public are easily persuaded by the press and even if only a few articles sensationalising the "allegations" that he may have been involved are published, it will probably be enough to seal his fate. His celebrity days are probably now over. It's guilt by association and it's terribly unjust but it happens all the time.

The more he fights to clear his name the more people will connect his name with Jimmy Savile.
