You really should Shaun. The Gunslinger is a bit slow but it builds up for the rest of the series.

Both very good. Also, if you're a Salinger fan, try out Franny and Zooey, if you haven't already. It's better than Catcher in the Rye, IMHO, and may be my fav of all time, not a "top 10 or top 50." I don't know you as a close friend, but what I *do* know of you says this would be a book you would very much enjoy.

Yeah! I loved them! I read them when I was younger, but I've re-read them in the past few months. A lot of it was difficult to grasp when I first read them. But now I'm older I understood, and enjoyed them even more the second time around.

The only thing that's weird about them is the language of the books. It's set in an alternate universe so a lot of everyday things have alternate or archaic names (like 'anbaric' for electricity).

They're definitely worth a read. They're fantastically written and the plot is gripping too.

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books. I would also recommend any Kurt Vonnegut novel but most of all Cat's Cradle or Slaughter House Five
