Obama could kick your asses if every one had 10 guns each, so being armed may have worked in the 1800's, but it might be time to grow up for you. Both personally and as a nation.

The system we have today is not a dictatorship in the traditional sense but it is what Ralph Nader calls the two-party dictatorship. Obama couldn't kick our asses. He gets his power from the people. Without the people's tax dollars he couldn't purchase military equipment or pay the soldiers. He's not going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. Why would the government kick our asses and lose all their power when it can exploit our asses?

That's my point. Why would he kick your asses? Why would any of the (so-called) modern democracies?

Once you accept that government isn't going to kick your asses, then you have to acknowledge that you no longer need arms to protect yourselves from government tyranny.

LOL, tell that to the chinese. Or you know what, Jesus H Christ, just forget that. In fact forget everything I've told you so far because did you know there is no risk of our governments ever stepping over their bounds and going down the dark path? I've come to that realization by reading all the brilliant points you make. The government tells us over and over again that what they do is for our safety and benefit so it must be true. Why would they lie to us or deceive us? It's silly and crazy to think otherwise.

You don't live in China, though.

If you don't like what the government does, then vote, but being a gun owner will have no influence on your government, or your personal say in matters.

I'm not saying your government is great, or even functional with crazy republicans who can't even pass their own bills when they are in the majority. Here's a question, how many times have your population been forced to take up arms against the government since independence?
