I think they didn't want to be known primarily for one show only and in that respect will probably feel glad to be rid of it (as well as rating drops).
But on the other hand I don't think they have really managed to replace it with anything else that draws in big viewing figures (to my knowledge anyway) so they might regret not sticking with it a little while longer and trying a re-vamp.
