Default Hypothetical situation #98778

based off something that i know happened to someone....

you're pregnant when you find out you have a brain tumour... doctors say they can preform treatment which will help you live longer and maybe even cure you, but it would kill your unborn baby.

so you have the choice of getting treatment... but you would loose your baby.

you also already have a 3 year old daughter...

what would you do?

go through with the pregnancy to die a few months after? or would you have an abortion in hope that you can survive and be there for your daughter you already have?

Well I'm no woman, but I'd end up having the abortion to at least try and be there for my child... it'd be so tough though.

i can't even begin to imagine what I would do. Luckily the person that this happened to was in a stable relationship, so the partner was able to look after both children.

i dont think i'd be able to have an abortion just to save my life... i think i'd want my child growing up with a younger sibling...

It's not the same though. And it's not guaranteed. You don't even know if you're going to survive.

Think in this situation I would have an abortion, keep living and look after the child I already have.

I would go through with the treatment.

Mind it would depend HOW pregnant I was. I dont think I could ever have an abortion once I had seen the baby/the heartbeat on a scan. So if it was gunna be a late abortion, then no, I couldnt do it.

How far pregnant?

This is almost impossible? Was there no option for treatment after the pregnancy? I know someone who something similar happened and she was induced at 32 weeks and both her and the baby made it.

I think I'd go ahead with the pregnancy.

But I don't see there being a wrong answer here, both choices have great merit to them.

..that's a really hard one Ninastar...I think I would first have to listen to my family and hear their thoughts because if I didn't survive, they would have to care for the baby and it would only be fair that their wishes were taken on board... and I would have to think of my 3 year old as well...that's so sad if you knew someone in that situation for real...

im lucky that i only knew of the girl once she grew up. The mother ended up going through with the pregnancy and got to spend two more years with her children.

i think my friend grew up fine without her mother, but it would always be better if she had been there, you know?

if it wasn't for the fact that i know someone who went through this situation, i think i'd have had an abortion/gotten the treatment that harms the baby. I've changed my mind completely now

..yeah, that's the thing..your friend can't say that she wishes she knew her mum and that she made the wrong decision because she wouldn't be here if that was the case..it's just a very sad situation to be in...I know that she would feel a loss that she didn't know her mum but for her, her mum will always be perfect because she gave her life for her...and there isn't any greater love than that Ninastar...or any greater love that she'll have for her mum for making that sacrifice..so in the strangest and most sad way, they will always have a perfect relationship/love...not many people can say that they have something that special..it was an impossible decision to make but that brave lady made it...

That's tough because I would never think I'd be able to have an abortion but in that situation I think I might because I already have a young child, who, imo needs a mother and I think I'd owe it to her to do my best to stick around and make sure she's ok
