Last up, Ben and Ariel's entry (after sending me a billion messages I've been able to piece it together!):

Name:

Bider (pronounced Bye-der)

We decided to go with name that incorporated the words beer and cider as those were our products, and it sounds quite German, which considering where this task is set, is perfect as we want to embrace the German roots as that is who we are aiming at!

Product design/Billboard advert:



We felt that as were targetting both men and women that the designs for both bottles needed to represent the genders perfectly. We also felt that we needed to keep the design simple but enough to stand out from all the other products that are on the shelves in supermarkets, bars and clubs. Having worked in both hospitality and marketing I know how important it is to have your product stand out without over trying, and I think you will agree there is nothing out there like this.

We felt the pure black bottle for men with the strong blue writing captured the essence of masculinity, and the pink bottle with the jet black writing gave a huge ambience of femininity, class and elegance. We also tried to add a sense of sophistication by using the font we have with our logo/name/design.

Slogan:

"Für ihn, für sie. Das ist gut! Völlig erfrischend!"
For, him, for her. That is good! Totally refreshing!"
Again we felt simplicity was key here. We wanted something catchy but effective that embraced what our product was about; men and women.


Product pitch:

Why would our product sell well? Because sexism! Men don’t want fruity little drinks. They want macho beer because they’re men and they date women. And those ladies don’t want stuff that goes down hard; they want sweet ciders that go well with a night full of cooking, cleaning, and gossip. And who are we to deny them these desires? Bider comes in cases of twenty, with ten beers for the men and ten ciders for the lady. No more arguing over what kind of alcohol to buy! This new line of drinks allows you to get smashed while re-living the nineteenth century. And they taste pretty damn good, too!

If successful we would look at branching into other flavours and expanding.

• Barley
• Hops
• Yeast
• Chilli pepper
• Chocolate
• Arabic Spice

Bider Cider:

• (Fermented) Peach
• Lavender
• Lychee
• Carbonated Elderflower
• A splash of Drew’s tears

Cost:

15 euros a crate (Ł12.77)

With the television advert we wanted to get emphasis that our product is just as satisfying as sexual pleasure but more refreshing. We felt going for a humorous stance here would make people remember it and generate a talking point.

The voice in this for both the vid and voiceover is mine, and we also decided that we would utilise some German music in the background (Rammstein – Frühling in Paris) as we our aiming this at the German market.
