To be fair, the purpose of that was to show that Charlie wasn't conniving or bitchy with her comments. She was just naive.
Gina, Jemima and the others still weren't sure about Charlie and were wary of her, Jackie tried to persuade them that she's made genuine mistakes and is naive and isn't purposely offensive.
