Boringly predictable choice! They have no imagination.

Just think it could have been Prince Dexter!

They had no choice, the courtiers would have laid down the law.

This antiquated system of a heredity monarchy not only is archaic and out of place in a modern democracy, but those within the monarchy effectively have their human rights infringed, such as freedom of association and freedom of thought.

You have seen them happy with the baby.

It was named behind closed doors. The courtiers would have insisted on the names because of "Tradition"

I don't think Prince Wills comes across many courtiers in the RAF Search & Rescue team. Lol!

The Queen probably chose the name. The child is all one of her successors to the throne.

Which proves if true, that the system of monarchy we have infringes the human rights of those within it.

There is more to be said on a general level, but that is for another thread, as this one is about the recent royal birth.

What I wonder now is how much Kate will be allowed to nurse her baby herself, or will the courtiers insist that that is not becoming of a royal and that if the bottle was good enough for his grand father, you get the picture.

You can bet that William from now one will not be allowed to change nappies, that is the job of the Royal nannies, who from now one will take over the child's care and education. They usually only see Mater and Pater at Christmas or Easter...

Prince William and Kate are presented to us in the media as a "normal, modern couple" - I highly doubt that antiquated parenting practices will be imposed on them, if for no other reason, because their good reputation has brought some form of credibility back to the Royal family after years of scandals ranging from Diana to Sarah Ferguson. While it is considered tradition to choose from a selected pool of names within the Royal family; why are you working under the assumption that William and Kate wanted to name their baby something else? We have no evidence to the contrary. They called him George. George is the patron saint of England, there have been a great number of King Georges down the line (and it is a very normal tradition around the world, including in the UK, to name children after family members) and if they like the name, they like the name. William held his child outside in front of the press in what came across as a very pointed statement that he is going to be a father and not merely a ceremonial paternal figure. They're all about coming across as modern and as normal as possible. People need to cut them some slack - there are so many people furiously picking on them for being unelected (which, as true it is, isn't their fault - and Kate Middleton was just like everybody else for her whole life!) and for what they represent that they seem to forget that they are two first-time parents who have just had a baby. I can't think of a single other mother and father who have been so harshly criticised for... having a baby.

We are told that Kate is already nursing the baby herself and that William had already done a bit of nappy changing.

Once they are back in their cottage in Wales there won't be anyone around to tell them anything - except for William's CO!

Er Third in line to the throne? I don't think so.

Royal protocols must be followed to the letter...

Any Criticism is not directed at Will and Kate but at the system of Monarchy and those who impose it upon those trapped in it like Will and Kate.

As has been said it is not their fault they have not been elected, they are just as much victims of this system.

Getting back to the topic, I am surprised that the mandarins at the palace have allowed Kate to take the child back to her mother. In previous times, it was back to the palace, ASAP.

Ironic that the US media used this to deflect from the George Zimmerman case and then Kate and Wills go and call him George.

her family had no input in the naming of their grandson/son
they weren't even spoken to , the monarchy i.e. the queen and phillip picked the names end of
lovely kind meritocratic dictators that they are
the coverage has been preposterously over the top and saturated
