I think there is some racism within the vote, especially towards females.

I mean look at Deana last year there was blatant racism from fans of Conor on facebook and twitter. I am glad to say I think it's a small minority but I think it's a bit 'rose-tinted-glasses' to suggest there is no racism subtext now and then, I mean without mentioning names I've seen slight racism on this very forum as did mods.
