I think Gina misunderstood what Daley said but when Dexter asked Daley about it and he clarified what he'd actually said Dexter (or anyone in the same situation) was understandably a bit confused and disappointed with Gina.

And the snake thing just made the majority of the housemates look bad because they were so quick (and the twins and Callum gloated so much about it!) to label Dex as the snake. They looked furious when it was revealed that they were wrong!
Another example of the house wallowing in hatred for Dexter while Dexter took it on the chin and came out of the situation looking like the better and more gracious person! That's why the public love Dexter so much and why he will at least make the final and very possibly win or at the least be in second place as runner-up to Gina!!!!
