On live feed now Dexter saying that he is dyslexic and think he mentioned having dyspraxia too. Said he can't add things together or even write his own name without it looking illegible. Said he has often been called stupid and told he didn't have the smarts to do what he wanted.
Callum is apparently an accountant, excellent at maths and Dexter reckons that Callum is extremely intelligent academically. He said he always wishes he had the same type of analytical intelligence that Callum has and feels that Callum is able to predict things in the house that Dexter can't see yet. Although he tried to say that he thinks he is still more 'street smart' is there a little bit of jealousy or insecurity there on Dexter's part because of the 'on paper' achievements of Callum? Callum doesn't buy Dexter being so humble and says that he knows Dexter is only trying to portray a certain humble image to the public but that he respects that it is Dexter doing what he needs to do to succeed with the public. I think Callum mainly dislikes Dexter because of the time he spends with Charlie, but is jealousy of intelligence the reason Dexter dislikes Callum so much? |

I have a friend with dyspraxia. I know what to look for. I somewhat doubt Dexter has that.

Having dyslexia or other learning disabilities doesn't mean you lack any amount of analytic or other intelligence. The brain often compensates for learning disabilities in other areas resulting in extra intelligence, even brilliance. Einstein couldn't remember his phone number; he probably had a type of dyslexia.
And I don't think Dexter is jealous of Callum's "intelligence". Last edited by Spoon; 29-07-2013 at 12:10 AM. |

I definitely could of misheard him. I know he definitely said dyslexia but I thought he named another condition afterwards starting with dys. Maybe dyscalculia or maybe he just repeated the word dyslexic? Not sure tbh. :-)

I think Dex saw Callum as one of his closest friend, but Callum nommed him in the face to face noms. I think that was the start of the rift. Dex then started to attack Callum's personalty with the whole you're too nice thing.

I don't know the whole medical reasoning behind it, but my friend in college with it had huge problems with maths. She was in tears several times she got so stressed. She once described to me that she felt the numbers on the board were 'jumping places'. I don't really understand it well tbh.
Same girl still passed her maths exams though with a lot of hard work . ![]() |

I always thought he was closest to Daley and he forgave him for nomming him face to face. Have to say I felt sorry for him that week getting nominated by his friends.

Your brain doesn't make the logical connections between numbers, similar to dyslexics not recognizing letter patterns. My cousin has it, and one of the problems is that he cannot calculate change in his head. If he buys something, he has to trust the clerk to give back what he's owed, because he would need a paper and pencil to convert each coin to a number to figure it out.

He could still do well at school even if he was dyslexic just have to work a bit harder. Maybe he was just a bit thick as well.
He certainly makes up for it with his storytelling.. ![]() Last edited by smudgie; 29-07-2013 at 01:11 AM. |

I think the reason Callum and Dexter don't get on is........ Charlie!
Secondary reason is that Dexter feels Callum looks down on him, because Callum is a well-qualified accountant/financial adviser whereas Dexter left school with no quals and has worked (it seems) mainly in the sleaze industry. (I assume Callum coaches kids in his spare time: I don't get the impression he's a teacher, as such. Could be wrong.) |

Your secondary reason sounds like a good possibility to me, but I'm not so sure about the whole Charlie thing. I believe Callum really likes Charlie and has done from the start and I also think Callum hates when Dexter and Charlie get close, maybe even gets a bit jealous. However I don't believe that Dexter just out of the blue developed romantic feelings for Charlie. I have always thought that whole fiasco was just a gameplan on Dexter's part for airtime, but now I'm considering the possibility that maybe he started it purely to purposely try and get 'one up' on Callum in some way. I really think it boils down to animosity, and to be fair, I think Callum has it worse then Dexter.
I think Dexter is pretty content with the relationship he has with Charlie, and understands and is respectful enough of the relationship Charlie has with Callum. On the flip side, I think it genuinely gets to Callum that Dexter and Charlie are close, and he goes out of his way to talk bad about Dexter when the opportunity arises, specifically mentioning how Charlie shouldn't trust Dexter and he isn't who he says he is, etc.. But when I see Dexter talk about Callum to Charlie, he always mentions his own personal feelings about Callum, in a way that doesn't necessarily try to influence how Charlie should feel about him. Decent way to go about it imo. Can't say I feel the same about how Callum approaches it. |

WHAT A LOT OF BULL, no way. The fact he playeda lot of poker and bet a lot would mean he had to know a good deal about numbers etc.
