Dexter knew exactly what he was saying. He even admitted to Sam later, "I knew you were listening". Why would he say something that he knows would piss Sam off if he knew he was listening? Dexter knew exactly what he was saying and how he was saying it in order to annoy Sam but still make it seem like it was a misunderstanding in order to portray Sam as the bad guy. It is Callum all over again! He said horrible things to Callum that he knew would set him off, but he just said them in a childish manner to fool the other housemates. ie. The pre-wrestling trash talk. However, when Gina and Sam wised up to him he had nothing to say.

Dexter did NOT know that Sam was listening, Dexter was convinced that Sam had been put out of the house.

How do you know he isn't lying to the other housemates. Either way he only said it to get to Sam! Why else would he?
