I agree a lot of sympathy for Sam is because of his deafness! It reminds me of a Paul Hogan film,many years ago,where he hit a guy in a wheelchair for being a dick. They became the best of friends because he treated him as an equal. Most people with a disability prefer to be treated on a par with everyone else when possible!?!
