I've noticed this series a correlation with BB13: the strongest fan favourites on the forum were those who, initially, were pretty hated inside and outside the house. I can't really compare with BB12 because the voting in that series was rather suspect...
This year, Dexter and Gina have made it to the final stretch and seen off some of the more obnoxious, rude and unpleasant housemates (Wolfy, Dan, Callum). Last year, Deana's struggle against Conor made her the fan favourite after a while. But once the real 'villain' of the show is evicted (or walks off with £50k in one of the most unjust pissings away of money of all time) both housemates - Dexter and Deana, and to a lesser extent Gina (on account of her obsessive hatred of Hazel), have really begun to slip down the popularity rankings. So my theory is this, and it's an unpleasant one. Do you think keeping in the housemates who these fan-favourites clash with, and have come-uppance over, is detrimental to their popularity? It's almost as if once all of the bad guys and the bitches are gone, these underdogs' flaws are brought to light because all they have to go against now are the nicest (or most boring, if you're one of those obsessed with the idea of entertainment) housemates. Deana got too cocky with her 'soldiers' nonsense and got into a few pointless and damaging spats with Sara and Luke S. The same's happening with Dexter.

Sorry but i thought the whole idea of a TV show was to provide entertainment
![]() Are you saying you'd prefer to watch a house filled with 6 Sophie's and Six Sam's for the whole summer ? I don't think they'd have any viewers left after the first week. ![]() |

you've rather proved my point with 'obsessed' there... you've ignored everything else in the post and gone straight for that.

I think because alot of times the "underdogs" aren't really that nice, it's more what they're up against makes people want to root for them, but I guess when their enemies are defeated then you're left with just that person who all of a sudden you realize isn't actually that great when they're not having to fight anyone

nah the bad ones need to go. people will always pick flaws in who remain anyway. no one is perfect so whoever is left will have flaws to see. we are all human after all.
stay or go the last left we see more and get more picky with anyway. deana was much like dex she was atacked and accused of all sorts but done nothing. the insider outsider thing was great, no one likes underdogs fightning back though on bb they sort of want them to remain beaten . i dont know why that is. this year is a bit a similar. dex gina wont get the prize it will go to the bore the same as luke a winning. sympathy vote and bore thoug miles ahead than sohie n sam in that regard.

I just commented on the only bit that caught my attention.

Yeah Niamh. I think these housemates spend the whole series fighting against something, so that once it's over and their nemesis is evicted, they're left either with nothing to champion their cause, or a little too big for their boots.

All HM's have flaws in their characters, Dexter always appeared as a flawed character, BB never painted him as anything other than a game player and someone who tells over the top stories about himself...a bit like Gina.
I supported both Deana and of course now Dexter, maybe being picked on was a part of it, but it's how they react to being picked on that I admire the most, and both Deana and Dexter (and this is the main thing) are very entertaining.
