She gives some of the viewers something to aspire to when they grow up she is a class above some viewers of the show.

This isn't a new thing and doesn't deserve a new thread.
Uh, BB and the like is responsible for these fame obsessed wannabes.

I'm not sure how the rest of your post is relevant. No time is "perfect" but in certain aspects things were better back then and in other aspects things are better in the present.

The fame obsessed, brainless cretin is a product and negative of today. In that sense, things were certainly better "back in the day".

Sorry but I completely agree. I find it bizarre that I will quite happily become absorbed with something like Big Brother, and feel such utter disgust for a show like Geordie Shore which is effectively just Big Brother on the outside but that's the way it is. The show is about people acting like that and having no shame. Doesn't show the UK in a great light, but then I suppose every country must have shows like that.

My friend and I said the exact same thing, we're both 19 and even we were disgusted. I've never watched Geordie Shore & dont plan too. She is horrible and as you've mentioned how could the crowd cheer her? I honestly dont get the majority of our generation now.

She is now my new Dexter, she will not win and I will make sure of it. Absolute disgrace to her hometown, family and friends.

To hero worship automatically means their morals and mannerisms are considered fine otherwise you wouldn't worship them.

Any sick bastard who hero worships Hitler isn't exactly going to do it because they liked the way he grew his tash.

I agree, who the hell are most of these people ?

Are you sure this is CBB , apart from a couple of exceptions I don't recognise any of them. This could almost be another normal BB series...!!

I hate to be a killjoy... But my very worst fears are soon to be realised that is the same production team that destroyed the last BB series are now involved with this series of CBB (so called).

It's plain to see they have kept the cheque book on a tight leash and attracted a bunch of reality TV Z listers , people that nobody really cares about.

Perhaps The future of BB and CBB are numbered.

..I'm not really sure were the comparison/connection is there at all..but I said to an extent though, I'm not sure hero worship is the term I personally would apply to any housemate, celebrity or otherwise..but it does depend on your own personal opinions/perspective..for me I can't comprehend why she's disliked so much because of the way she talks/things she says which are at worst very crude whereas you could say exactly the same about Ron Atkinson and the fact that he's also perceived to be 'hero worshipped' for something he did for a living but made blatant racist remarks..that doesn't mean to say that his fans are racists..?..the two don't equate for me...

I totally agree with the opening post. Youngsters up and down the country seem to worship this kind of personality and want to emulate their lifestyle. The fact we have so many Charlotte-wannabees in the UK, says a lot about the way the country is going and it is really quite sad.

This ^^ .... Well said

..I don't agree, why would they be 'the wrong reasons'..some of the things she says are cringeworthy but they don't hurt anyone..to my knowledge she's not violent toward people/spiteful etc..there are far more things 'wrong with Britain' and the world in general than someone like Charlotte who just doesn't hold back with how she expresses things..all the celebrities are controversial in different ways, isn't that why they're in there..she's no worse than any of the others and certainly not a bad person from what I've seen...

Hero worshipping is hero worshipping regardless of how far up and down the scale of extremism they happen to be on.

Don't deflect my point by telling me something I already know about Hitler being far worse than big brother housemates.

If I thought somebody was a Racist why would I want to hero worship them? It would disgust me. I would only hero worship (not that I would cos i think it's a bit sad) somebody who shares my ideals and morals OR someone I wanted to be like.

And before someone pipes in with oh but your on the Ron Atkinson fan page, he said something a long time which was common place in his profession behind closed doors. He was out of order and he should know better than to say things like that not that I have to explain myself because I don't hero worship him anyway he's just the person I have picked for now.

..who's to say anyone does 'hero worship' just that they're fans of that person and see positives in them and not just the negative which of course are there but they are for all of them, I can't see that Charlotte is exceptional in any way, all of them are 'controversial'...some people don't believe Ron to be a racist, that's their prerogative, they don't believe that his comment defines him as a person..others don't think the way in which Charlotte says things define her either..she's no worse/better than anyone else in there...and I'm not deflecting at all...

..I will also say that 'extremists' are exactly that, they're extreme and there is no middle scale for them, they're that because they do not have any balance in their opinions...I said to an extent in that there are things we all like/admire whatever about 'favourite housemates'..I find a lot of things Charlotte says cringeworthy but understand that some might perceive those very same things as being honest/real..saying exactly what she thinks and to me she hasn't said anything spiteful/hurtful so I don't have a problem with it..I also understand that other positives are seen in other housemates but their negatives can't be overlooked either in the way that Charlotte's aren't...there are lots of things wrong with the world in general but a young girl using cringeworthy terminology for me isn't really one of them...

Her VT was awful, and she over cooked the "I'm so scared entrance". Will reserve judgement at the mo.

The thread makes a good point tho

It's more about the crowd than charlotte herself, who could well be a good HM

It's a pretty scary thing to see loads of people chanting 'charlotte charlotte' when all we saw was her talking about p***, s*** and *******s in every orifice

Especially when the same people just booed Courtney who said nothing gross or offensive

So the crowd mentality is "cheer someone for being gross and dirty, but boo someone for being blonde and american"

It is pretty scary

If you watch old series of Big Brother, it was a much happier and easy going crowd

No one hardly ever got booed 10 years ago, every one got cheered and was given a chance -

These days everyone gets booed - it's rare to hear cheers !!

I guess we weren't so quick to judge back then

BUT the thing to remember is this :

The BB crowd are not a cross section of the british public

The BB crowd these days seems to attract the kind of people who ENJOY booing others, it's horrible to see

More Jeremy Kyle than Big Brother

The nicer viewers tend to stay at home, i don't blame them. I wouldn't want to be surrounded by loads of people hurling abuse on mass

It's like going to a public execution, not a game show

So yeah the thread is right - forget the 50s

The crowd are WAY more moody than they were only ten years ago

Always takes me a few days just from last night I really liked Dustin and funnily enough Louis, though it is possible Louis could have a meltdown or he might start to grate I guess.

Charlotte is one of only two that I really don't like. That's good for CBB.

..yeah I really don't want to like Louis, I've always found him irritating and unfunny but he said a few funny thing last night and I have a feeling I might grow to like him if he doesn't have that meltdown..he's a loud character and there always seems to be so many loud characters..what do you call that..?..a gaggle of them or something..?..anyway, sometimes the louder characters can also be subdued by so many other similar ones around them so I'm just seeing if anyone shines atm...
