Quand il pleut, il pleut
|
![]() Here’s a good news story to warm the cockles of your heart. A homeless man in the US has been inundated with thousands of dollars in donations as a reward for his remarkable honesty. Glen James recently discovered a rucksack stuffed with $42,000 (£26,000) in cash and traveller's cheques. But rather than pocketing the loot that he could dearly use, James handed it all over to authorities who passed it on to the rightful owner. His honourable act was recognised by the Boston police commissioner (pictured above), who praised James for his “extraordinary show of character and honesty". Upon reading about James’ exploits, Ethan Whittington of Virginia decided to set up an online donation page to help change his fortunes. As news of the fund spread rapidly, donations began pouring in from around the world by the minute. At latest count, the fund is worth $94,000 (£58,000), and Whittington is hoping to reach $250,000 (£155,500). Wittington told a local news network that he is in discussions with an organisation that will help James manage the money. Last edited by Ammi; 20-09-2013 at 09:25 PM. |

Homeless man, on the bottom rung of the ladder of society showing amazing honesty and depth of character. Conversely, highly paid, publically elected officials on enormously fat salaries with benefits, screwing people at every opportunity. I'm constantly amazed that the human race has come this far.
I wish this chap everything he'd wish for himself. |
