Some people just walk with confidence when they're drunk, though. I know if I drink I can never get to the point where I'm dizzy or sick or anything, I just outdrink myself into this weirdly lucid state where I'm definitely pissed and running on auto pilot but can go around perfectly normal.
I don't think it's that great a leap of faith that these kind of people are capable of making it on to planes  .
