Susanna Reid has become the new favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing after a flood of votes, according to bookmaker William Hill.

The BBC Breakfast host has edged ahead of Natalie Gumede who has led the field from the start, with the firm slashing Reid's odds and putting her at 13/8 to win.

The rush to place money on Reid - one of five celebrities still left in the ballroom dancing contest - comes despite her being at the bottom of the leader board after last week's performances.

"Almost 90% of bets placed in the last 24 hours have been for Susanna. Our customers are backing her as if she cannot lose," said Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.
