I just think of dates as good practise for your people skills. Don't pretend you're something you're not, don't lie about yourself, just talk about what interests you and find out what interests your date - be an active listener. Ask them questions, ask them follow up questions to whatever they've just said... it's surprising how many people aren't capable of doing that.
