I think it's still something that's mostly done behind closed doors. Baby steps, really. Until the law adequately protects gay people, I don't imagine many gay people would feel comfortable being openly affectionate. But to be honest, you don't see that many heterosexual people doing public displays of affection either, I think it's generally accepted that it's a bit gross regardless of who's doing it
