i have an afghan (not sure if that is the correct spelling) it's a knitted blanket that my great grandma made just for me,. she made one (literally knitted the entire blanket) for everyone in the family, and i love mine, even though it has a few unravelling bits, but i love it and it's the first thing i'd grab if there was a fire.

I still remember the specific day when she brought me to the store to pick out which color yarn i wanted. It's one of my earliest memories, i couldn't have been more than 6 or 7.

but yea, i still have that afghan blanket, it's awesome.

she died with alzheimers in a nursing home. just to finish the story.
