I'm not even going to go into some of the **** that I used to do, but it wasn't anything like having a fear of odd things (like the images in the OP) and I wasn't afraid of germs (although I did used to wash my hands to the point they were cracked and bleeding). I didn't tell my parents as they wouldn't understand and I was too embarrassed to tell any of my siblings. I went to my GP for about a month but I was too embarrassed with that too so stopped going altogether

This began when I was like 13 and got worse and worse, until I was around 15 and decided to put an end to it once and for all, and eventually out of sheer motivation with no help from anyone I became completely OCD-free
Yes some people can have it really bad to the point where it takes over their entire life, one of my sisters has really severe OCD she is affected by about 4 of the main categories and she has stages where she can control it pretty well then other times it spirals, she was an anorexic for years and then bulimic and having those illnesses together with bad OCD is just a recipe for disaster because they bounce off of each other and make things 10X worse.

I only have Symmetry OCD and it is very mild compared to most people that suffer with it.
