If you aren't willing to do any reading, listen to any opposing arguments and the issues don't affect you, you may as well stay out of it

That's the one problem with having this debate, especially on this forum it seems...it usually starts off quite civilised as it did in this thread, but as always some people seem to feel the need to jump in and make sarcastic and patronising insults for no reason whatsoever. It's immature, counter productive and cheapens what should be an interesting and thought-provoking debate on either side of the argument. But then this is a Big Brother forum, so expecting a high calibre of people to discuss an issue like this is probably a bit misguided of me

I was willing to have a discussion about it but when I'm outright told that my opinions/observations on the matter mean squat because "it doesn't affect you" and "it's nothing to do with you" then what more do you want?

I can't have a discussion with that because my opinions are nullified before I even have a chance to give them.

But you aren't willing to have a discussion, are you? You've written off those involved as 'attention seekers' before a discussion has even begun, laughed at the issues and even resorted to insinuating in a couple of posts in this this thread that people whom identify as a gender which doesn't align with their biological sex should be spited by calling them a 'man' even if they identify as a woman

I thought you were better than that actually, didn't have you down as one of 'those' that sees fit to do that, kinda like those people who will insist on pronouncing someone's name a different way to how they wish to be known as just because there's multiple ways of pronouncing it and they prefer a different way. A separate matter this is I suppose but anyone can have whatever opinions they like on these issues but if to their face they aren't willing to show a bit of respect and address them how they would prefer to be addressed, they're an ignorant and rude **** and are basically a waste of oxygen

I wasn't necessarily just referring to you either btw it was more of a general comment, there's only been a handful of people (Zee and Shaun mainly) in this thread who've been able to comment on these issues maturely without resorting to sarcastic and patronising insults just because they aren't willing to engage in a proper civilised and interesting discussion about the topic

I've tried a discussion in this thread where everyone was then told we're not in serious debates, which I agree this isn't the place for it. And there was one started in the controversial opinions thread. Both times I was told it's nothing to do with me.

Not much of a conversation starter when that's the response.

My jokes are just that, jokes. If you want to get offended on behalf of people, go ahead.

People keep reblogging this when it's fake and the black statue is actually a statue in the Carribean Island and it was sculpted in 2007. Google it and look for a snope link Ffs.

But then you call out people for being patronising and disrespectful and then demean everyone on here for being on a Big Brother forum and therefore incapable of being 'high calibre'. Such sentiments are probably a large part of the problem of these movements, they're seen as being driven by a self proclaimed intellectual elite, whose concepts of gender are inaccessible to most people and completely detached from real world comprehension.

I didn't demean everyone, I'm on a Big Brother forum myself...I'd be a little bit of a hypocrite. I was just pointing on that this debate started off perfectly civilised but as always whenever this topic seems to come up on here there are some posters who feel the need to derail the discussion with sarcastic and patronising insults for absolutely no reason at all. It's counter-productive, produces animosity and makes those on the opposing side wish not to discuss the matter with people who clearly aren't going to be mature enough to keep it civilised

I already pointed out the handful of people in this thread that despite holding the majority opinion were still able to address the opposing side in a respectful way asking probing questions that weren't littered with digs and a mocking attitude. It solves nothing
