they all hated her, why would you give people that didn't like you a letter from home? i would've taken the 5k too. and in her defence, she didn't know they were watching her.

Easily. It's far, far better than our format and it's time we adopted it (at least for a one series trial) in the UK

Each week there's a competition for one person to become Head of Household, that person nominates two people, there's a Power of Veto comp where the nominees, HoH and three people randomly selected compete for the power to be able to save a nominee (in which case the HoH names a replacement), and then on eviction night every person apart from the nominees and HoH votes one of the two out, whoever has the most votes leaves.

When there's just two people left the last seven people evicted return to form the jury and each one casts a vote for one of the finalists

It's far more interesting, unpredictable and fair since if you get evicted it's through bad gameplay rather than because you're not a young attractive male or because you had an argument with a young attractive male

I don't think I'd be interested in that. It would frustrate me if somebody who was unanimously hated outside the house won the show

I would hate to see BBUK switch to the US format as it is really missing out on the interesting interactions between housemates. Strategic is so forced in the editing of the US version and you really don't get to see who the housemates really are. I'd much rather see genuine people (or people trying to play up for the public) and the shopping tasks,etc. It's a refreshing break from the US version.

BBAU+BBUK = charming, interesting housemates
BBUS = strategic
BBCAN = strat+charm

I like them all as they are!

No way. The BBCAN house had this weird trend this year where each week the person that got evicted pretty much knew ahead of time. Adel (the guy talking to Ika at the end) was the only person willing to hang out and talk with the eventual evictee before they left the house. Everyone else in the house would ignore the person going home like the plague. Once the tables flipped on Ika they gave her that treatment as well and she realized how it had been going on the whole time to everyone else that had left. Good for her to call them all out on their BS and shred their letters.

But wouldn't you rather have someone win the show who you know worked hard to justify it? As a viewer of the American and Canadian versions of the show (as well as Survivor) I find it so refreshing to have a format of reality television where sucess is determined based on hard work, intelligence and strategy rather then the status of reality TV in this country where it is basically a glorified sympathy contest and the person who wins is the person who most satifies middle England rather then those that deserve it. Yes you can get unlikable winners (Andy and Maggie) but you forgive them for it because you know that they earned it.

I would much rather have more of these:

Then more of these:

This happened to me a lot when I was watching BBUS.

BB4 is worth skipping anyway, Alison and Jun are the only decent ones, it's really boring. BB5 is MUCH MUCH better, I'd just move on to that tbh.

Tbf you should've put them in spoiler tags anyway because the images are quite big and it could make the page run slower.

I know karl, i'm more mad at myself for reading it

Hayden, im enjoying it (a bit), but if dana leaves then i'll stop watching because she's the only one making it interesting. Allison can drink petrol for all I care, can't believe she won HOH

What ep are you up to?

And trust me the HGs in BB5 are much better. Can't wait til you get to the more recent seasons, you need to start discussing eps on my wall so I can discuss them with you.

The problem with 5 is it can't keep up its pace throughout, the start of the season is fantastic but the moment that...
Spoiler:

Jase is evicted
the quality drops dramatically.

I pretty much agree with everything Karl wrote but I will say that a lot of the people who are stereotypically hated (e.g. arrogant powerhouse guys) outside the house make themselves targets inside the house and so get put up and voted out anyway. I'm not saying people who are hated never do well, but I wouldn't say it's a regular thing or moreso that people in the US embrace the kind of housemates that we condemn here in the UK, and that's a good thing

It's a far, far more interesting format and also fairer. A social experiment mixed with a strategic game > a social experiment mixed with a ridiculous popularity contest

I've never understood the BB4 love, I enjoyed flashes of it (and I enjoyed the latter weeks more than the beginning) but overall it was pretty uneventful and bleak

BB5 is way better and I think is probably the most underrated season

Have you seen BB2 and 3, Germyle?
