Launched in 1997, the UK’s fifth terrestrial channel regularly struggles to break the 2m viewers mark and is overwhelmingly reliant on imports with original programming mostly accounted for by reality TV and lifestyle shows.

However an email to staff sent by Bob Bakish, Chief Executive of Viacom International, and Dave Lynn, Managing Director of the firm’s UK arm, suggested that would now change.

First of all I don't think no one on here is under 10

"And suggested that would now change" could mean lots of things not just reality TV and they also said that they would want to keep Big brother

1997 was 17 years ago lol look how much viewing has changed!

Back then if you wanted to watch a show it had to be there and then , live! that's why viewing figures were so massive. Now we have on demand, youtube and plenty of other ways to catch up on the show.
