It's probably best you dont write statements like that until the court case has finished (Whatever the outcome is), there's a reason why newspapers always use words like "alleged"

That came from a Radio Reporter who was in Court
More up to date than any Internet or Newspaper.

This Case is a Shocker
He will go to Jail
If, after due process, he is found guilty.

This is day one of the trial.

Day. One.

You've decided he is guilty and you've said he will go to jail. The defence hasn't said a word yet!

Like you I am not making any judgements as to this case either Livia,

I agree, the prosecution is setting it's case out at present on day one of the trial but so much can and may well be ripped apart from what 'seems' to be their case rather than what actually 'is'.

..I was very sad when I heard of his arrest because he's someone I've always liked and thought was genuine...if he's guilty then I hope he's found so in the courts and justice is done for the victims but atm I totally agree with Livia..'conclusions' can't be reached so early in his trial...

Hello Ammi . I also was sad at this arrest too, I agree with your post above and do feel he could,if found guilty, be given the strongest penalties that can be.

He has admitted it sems to an affair as to the letter that was read out in court yesterday but that the person involved was over the age of consent and that it was consensual.

I will not judge him on what twist the media may put on this and will wait for the jury's verdict.
After all they will hear all the so called evidence both for him and against him, we will not be in that position.

Funny how public perceptions can change, when this particular arrest was made there was an outcry and calls for the charges to be thrown out. There was talk of Rolf Harris suing for the defamation of his good name.

However , in the light of recent guilty verdicts I'll wager there are a few more people out there who now are not quite so sure of his innocence.

I only hope if he is found guilty it is through solid evidence and not just a few old golddiggers who have come forward with similar questionable versions of alleged incidents.

This whole yewtree thing still has the smell of a witch hunt about it.

True, but only presenting the report in the media on the very first outlining of the prosecution case can be misleading and may even be untrue as to anything criminal or even sinister.

No judgement can be made whatsoever on that first piece of information relating to the alleged offence/s.
Trials are decided over the whole period of the trial with both the defence elements of counter argument and also the prosecution's vice versa.

For me, this is a dangerous way of reporting on 'live' cases going through the court, a full summary of both sides is what should be enacted at the end of the trial ,if it has to be reported in the media, not on every small single step of it.

I accept that but it shouldn't be,as in the case of William Roache for instance, the jury were solidly convinced all the bits and pieces of evidence against him were not substantiated at all in the trial.
Yet like here, the media just about had him guilty all through.

I accept in our media at present the reporting done is considered normal, for me however it shouldn't be and it is time it was changed as to that too,in my opinion.

Perhaps "kangaroo" is a euphemism, and it was a cry for help?

Default Rolf Harris found guilty on 12 counts of indecent assault

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-28094561

Quote:
Harris was found guilty of all 12 charges he was prosecuted on. They were:

Count One: A woman said Harris touched her inappropriately when she was just seven or eight while he was signing autographs in Hampshire in the late 1960s

Count two: Harris was accused of groping a teenage waitress's bottom at a charity event in Cambridge in the 1970s

Counts three to nine: A childhood friend of Mr Harris' daughter said he repeatedly indecently assaulted her between the ages of 13 and 19, including once when his daughter was asleep in the same room. He admitted a relationship with the woman, but said it began after she turned 18.

Counts 10 to 12: Australian woman Tonya Lee, who has waived her right to anonymity, said he fondled her three times on one day while she was on a theatre group trip to the UK at the age of 15.
Oh dear
