Is Global like Canada's BBC/ITV sort of thing?

Probably sound daft here as I only torrent the show, what's the difference between Global & Slice? Are they sister channels?

I´m not sure, but i think Slice is a subscription only channel (means you have to order it to view it) and available only in chosen regions, while Global is free and available nationally. Slice is Global´s sister channel, i think.

Global is Canada's CBS essentially. The US version shows on Global as well.

Shaw Media owns a bunch of major/specialty channels in Canada. Global is the major channel that pretty much all Canadians get. Slice was a specialty channel designed for an adult female audience. They put BB on Slice originally to bump the channel, but obviously the ratings are through the roof for specialty channels so they are moving it to the major channel now. I'm pretty happy about this! Some people have made comments about the free live feeds, since the parent company is still Shaw Media I don't see why they'd change anything about the show. With the show being on Global they might increase production costs / winners purse a bit too.

BB Canada is such a letdown imo - i watched the launch and I hoped it would be different from BB USA which it wasn't

You can't say it's a let down if you only watched the premiere I think the majority of BBUS viewers who have seen BBCAN would say anything but, their two seasons have had amazing casts, innovative twists, great houses and they've put their own little stamp and alteration on the US format and made it a show in its own right. I think both seasons have been produced really well and the fact it achieved record numbers for a subscription channel hence this promotion says it all

Also anyone could have told you it followed BBUS rules

Pretty much, it's now on a free-to-air channel rather than subscription only

Until a couple years ago Big Brother in Canada was solely BBUSA. Global has been airing it for years. It's pretty much the only Big Brother Canada knows. Doesn't really make sense for Canada to pitch a UK format Big Brother when the entire BB fanbase in Canada is used to the US format.

it was clearly coming back so not surprised about that. CA is like US for the most part but sometimes they mix in things from AU/UK. i liked season 2 way more than 1. both had good casts but one was somewhat of a letdown overall to me. they go way OTT with the twists and it comes off stupid and absurd for the most part but seeing how these first 2 seasons went its to be expected.
