what is heck is happenning to this country? we're meant to teach kids in school , were meant to educate them? teach them values? we preach about whats inside a person that counts, your love, your values, your true character? we preach people should be obsessed with their appearance and weight? then we dress them all up like barbie dolls, spray tan them, false nails, false hair, false eyelashes, put them in £500 frocks and send them to prom night aged 11 looking like barbie dolls in mini skirts and high heels in a stretch limo costing poor families a fortune?
the peer pressure is enormous, they have to go and get the best dress, the best limo, the [parents who cant afford it get into even more serious debt. so theres no money for important stuff? like if the kids got sick, needed treatment or operations, if the car breaks down or they cant pay their mortgage and bills? the moral of the tale for kids is debt doesnt matter, being a good person and working hard and only buying what you can afford doesnt matter...scream loud enough and you get your way...appearance is everything bravo what wonderful life lessons little wonder in a few years time, these kids, stripped of their childhood and innocent fun, hit the clubs and pubs early and the dreaded drug scene all glamorised and romantices and supported by even mroe peer pressure its an absolute disgrrace all my headmaster gave me was great advice and speeches which i carry with me all my life, thata far better gift that a fcking spray tan? |

these parents are spending £1000 on an 11 year old kids prom? then you have school prom? then they go to 6th form college, prom 3, then uni prom.....thats 4 proms? throw in school holidays where the teacher promote these foreign excursions, more peer pressure to pay more holidays for the kids etc
throw in all the other hen nights, stag doos, wet the babies, tupperware parties, its just an endless stream of superficial expensive frankly frightening level of materialism? things like being kind and nice and caring and looking after each others health and well being and actually working for what you get are out the window.....if you cant afford it, get credit cards and dont pay them, milk benefits or get a few different fathers for your kids and chase them to pay for this complete and utter dangerous nonsense |

Why is anyone in the UK having proms? Do we always have to ape America?

I agree that kids shouldn't have proms. It's scary seeing how 'adult' these kids think they are nowadays though. I don't think it was this had when I was in primary school and that was only 9/10 years ago. I think social media/parents not knowing when to say no is to blame really.
thats kinda off topic, but still proms should definitely be for older kids. 16+ and special occasions only
