Yes, a prime minister is not a president. He/she is appointed by the Queen on the basis of who leads the party, or coalition, which has a majority in parliament.
The prime minister can be changed without an election if, as in the case of Jim Callaghan and Gordon Brown, their predecessor resigns. Last edited by CaudleHalbard; 11-08-2014 at 09:56 AM. |
