People are friends with Helen through fear, that is really clear. She chooses her friends based on her perception of "coolness", and once they're rammed right up her arse and never questioning a thing she does, she's pretty nice to them, and shows less aggression. Pav even said it tonight! He perceives her to be less aggressive now that he's up her arse.
The reason she doesn't like Ashleigh is because she's one of few hms who won't take her sh*t. I've met many people who are the same... They'll be your friend if you let them boss you about, and will turn on you the minute you say no.
