Dee didn't exactly ask to be portrayed as she was on Benefits Street, and certainly didn't realize that's what Channel 4 were going to do. Just because she's on benefits doesn't mean she's a bad person. What about the people on benefits who truly are struggling and need it? She was most likely one of them who was struggling, and wasn't one of those people who claim thousands of pounds in benefits every year just so their kids can have iPhones, PS4's and the best branded clothes.
She had a good and respectful job at Birmingham City Council and was sacked, and was unable to find anymore work. Really, Benefits Street has helped her and since the show has come off benefits and is now working in the media thanks to the attention she's being given. Good on her.

yes, she did have a good job with the council until they sacked her. oh yes, you forgot to mention that they sacked her for stealing thoudands of pounds from them. she should have gone to prison. she is a convicted criminal, a thief. as for working in the media! is that what you call it. she does not know the meaning of the word work.
