Not really. My parents used to listen to metal/rock when they were young and all the classic older pop bands (e.g. Deacon Blue). As adults theyve not really been into much music my mum listens to chart stuff but my dad isnt fussed at all. I occasionally burn them CDs for the car.

I used to naturally listen to a lot of pop/chart music when I was young and always enjoyed singing talent shows (i.e. Pop Idol, Fame Academy, The X Factor). I used to buy the Now CDs and own Now 60-70 which I used to play on my CD player Once I got a laptop (aged 14?) I began with chart material but actually it was TiBB that initially broadened my horizons and next friends I made in sixth form and university so I now listen moreso to bands and adventure more into indie and electronic.

I still enjoy chart music all the same. I hate when people claim to 'detest' it. Fair enough if majority is too 'pop-y' or 'dance-y' or nowadays too 'house' but its fun, relatable and a good common social media for everybody to enjoy together. When people make playlists at parties and people complain "**** music" and try not to have a good time because of it
