Obviously part of it comes down to ignorance and insensitivity and whatever else. But that doesn't serve as a blanket excuse for everything and an explanation for Aaryn's despicable behavior. That doesn't explain her bragging about outing someone as gay to their fraternity. That doesn't explain the explicit nature of all of her racist remarks. That doesn't explain the frequency of all of her racist remarks. That doesn't explain her snapping her fingers at a black girl and saying "whatchu gonna doooooo gurlllll" in a tone that's equally derogatory and antagonistic. There's a huge difference between being a sheltered Southern girl and being someone who makes a **** ton of racist and homophobic remarks because they're a malicious and catty person, and that's clearly the kind of person Aaryn is. Just look at the hat incident or the bed flip, she's just a bitch and nothing more.
As for her apologies and "growth," when Amanda tried to warn Aaryn that some of her comments could be perceived as racist, she took no responsibility for her own comments and blamed others for being offended by them, and then tried to turn it around saying that
she is the one being discriminated against because she's referred to as Barbie. Oh the struggles of being a pretty white girl! When Amanda brought it up again during the bed flip night, Aaryn put the blame on her and said that her trying to warn her as a friend was ****ed up and she's just trying to stir **** up, and that she never said anything racist. Then when Julie interviewed her, Aaryn was given a chance to address her comments and make a sincere apology. Instead, she just blamed it on the Southerner stereotype and said that everything was taken out of context and just threw in a "oh btw I apologize to anyone I ever offended even though I really shouldn't have

" like... that's the furthest thing from a sincere apology and that's no sign of growth.
he also decided to throw the 25 million people from the state of Texas under the bus as well.
