Default Joke backfires on Cameron...

http://www.itv.com/news/update/2014-...r-queen-gaffe/

'The Prime Minister will make an unprecedented apology to the Queen after being caught describing her as "purring" in pleasure at the result of the Scottish Referendum.

A chastened David Cameron admitted he was "very embarrassed" and "extremely sorry" over the gaffe, which came as he chatted with billionaire media tycoon Michael Bloomberg in New York.'

He of all people should know the whole protocol of dealing with the Monarch.

The thing here is,he has done something no other PM ever has,it is not just the talking about deatial of a private conversation with the Queen but that by it, he has given away her position on the referendum too.

If he cannot be trusted to follow all governmental rules correctly, while this isn't the crime of the century, it does show he is not really up to the job as PM material too, especially as to discretion, which also is a trust issue.

I loved your footnote Kizzy, good one.

To be fair, she herself "hinted" at her position in a quite opaque manner several weeks before the referendum.

But then, I fully believe that David Cameron not only gossiped about his private conversations with her - I think he embellished or straight out made it up... no doubt in an attempt to brag to this elite capitalist tycoon about how close his relationship with the Queen is. It's just... sad. I very much doubt she did "purr" down the phone at him .

She should sue him for slander...

Wow, it really doesn't embarrass him at all, it just makes the Queen look like a hypocrite, because she's not meant to have any real power right? but the ACTUAL ELECTED LEADER of your country is APOLOGIZING TO HER??? so clearly she holds herself over him, right? so how can you claim that the monarchy doesn't have any power?

He's bowing down to her and begging her forgiveness like a BITCH.

It Makes the Entire British system look like a farce. Why should a PM give a **** about impressing the Queen unless she has some real power??

Having a monarchy is so immoral and racist and homophobic.

Have to disagree with you there, if I gossiped about or disclosed details of a private conversation with a staff member that I manage at work and caused them embarrassment, I would apologise profusely to them, because on a personal level it's a crappy thing to do. Likewise if one of the company heads came in and did the same to me, I would fully expect an apology. And an extra weeks holiday .

Manners don't, or shouldn't, have a power hierarchy.

Oh and to add to that, that's purely down to what I think constitutes decent behaviour. I completely disagree with the entire concept and implications of monarchy and think it should be scrapped, no matter how "good it is for tourism".

I cringed when I read about it so I can only imagine the shame spiral he must have fallen into when it made the headlines. He's an incompetent dick, the word "bumbling" has always seemed apt to describe him.

Why does the queen of england have any involvement with the Prime Minister anyway? Arn't we told that she has no political power?
