Perfectly put - The guy is a desperate assole. Any person in any field of entertainment who has genuine talent, and an act which the public want (supply and demand) is content 'in his own skin', has confidence in his own talents, and is self assured. He does not desperately intrude on another entertainer's 'limelight' in order to seek some of that 'reflected glory'. In addition to being thoroughly unprofessional, it is calculatingly selfish, because this dick-head knew that these kids were just starting out and he could have ruined their big chance.

It is to their credit that they acted as consummate professionals and were not 'thrown'.
